Thanks to the Lumiere Brothers who introduced Indians to the miracle of cinema. In 1896, in a big hotel of Bombay, a first projection excited the public. Less than twenty years later, the first feature film was produced.
First film representation of the famous Mahabharata (epic of Hindu mythology) led to the inauguration of Indian cinema. Halfway between musical comedy and great melodramas, scenarios often yield popular sentimentality. Shooting locations are selected all over India: the variety of landscapes offers all possible decorations. Most of the movies never cross national boundaries, but still a few great filmmakers have achieved international success. Attending a film show in India provides a real experience: One could attend film fair award on buying tickets as well on screen as it is broadcasted.
