Ahilya Fort - Guide India - Active India Holidays

Ahilya Fort

Standing high on a hill, overlooking the river Narmada, Ahilya fort offers its guests a luxurious stay while offering excellent hospitality services. This heritage property is currently managed by Prince Shivaji Rao Holkar, son of the last ruler of Indore.

The Ahilya Fort Hotel has 19 rooms, set in six 18th-century buildings with modern amenities and comforts. Guests stroll through 3 acres of courtyards, fountains, and gardens that link areas within the Wada. It is easy to find a secluded spot to read a book, sip some tea, or just watch the butterflies flutter by.

Every meal at Maheshwar's Ahilya fort is a wonderful experience. Enjoy a lazy breakfast mandap terrace (buffet) while enjoying the view of the surrounding. Have lunch at the leafy Badam courtyard. Savor your dinner by the well-lit pool or on an island in the river Narmada.

The hotel’s gardens, designed and planted by Prince Richard, are spread throughout the property. The organic bageecha, or vegetable garden, offers seasonal salads, veggies and herbs to the kitchen, picked fresh every day.
